The research focus of the Department of Biotechnology revolves around following topics: 1- Management of environmental wastes using genetically modified microbes a. Management of solid waste b. Biological disposal of heavy metals 2- Production and purification of recombinant proteins and enzymes of both industrial and medical impacts 3- Molecular diagnosis of certain diseases affecting humans, animals and plants The department relies on the available resources in the Immunology and Molecular Diagnosis Laboratory as well as the Biotechnology Laboratory and the Enzymology Laboratory.
