Dr. Mohamed Sultan, the Governor of Alexandria and Dr. Essam El Kordy the President of Alexandria University opened the recent renovations in Smoha Emergency Hospital.
The event was attended by Dr. Ahmed Osman Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and a lot of armed forces leaders and administrative control, Parliament representatives, university deputies and deans of the faculties.
Dr. Ahmed Othman said that the renovations include the center of brain catheter and super computer, which is equipped with the latest medical and accounting equipment with a cost of 10 million EGP that should achieve a qualitative breakthrough in research on cerebrovascular diseases. The new unit was funded by contribution from the civil society in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine and aims to reduce the mortality rate and rates of physical disability.
Dr. Othman added that the opening also included intensive care unit for heart diseases and after catheter cases and contains 4 beds with a cost of 2 million EGP and will be increased to 16 beds. He added that the internal section contains 10 rooms that can receive 20 patients and equipped with a gas network. He also presented the available capacities in the specialized clinics and treatment units in Smouha Specialized Hospital for Children and the cases that were treated in 2017, while the total donations were about 4 million EGP.
